The Good Samaritan Society has accepted an invitation to become a founding member of the HAIL Lab Consortium, an association dedicated to helping seniors live in their homes as long and as safely as possible.
HAIL stands for Healthy Aging and Independent Living, and founding members also include the Mayo Clinic and Best Buy. The Society’s participation in the initiative was announced Dec. 9, 2011.

(Bismarck, N.D.) – At Good Samaritan Society – Bismarck, high tech is combining with high touch in the introduction of a computer system designed specifically for seniors. The program has the belief that it’s never too late for one to join the digital revolution. From using e-mail to connect with family and friends, to enjoying mind-stimulating activities and improving hand-eye coordination as part of a rehabilitation program, seniors with a wide range of physical and cognitive abilities, most of whom have never used a computer, are now enjoying technology using systems adapted especially for them.

The Good Samaritan Society has a new opportunity to extend its mission of sharing God’s love in word and deed by providing alternative ways to care for seniors through the LivingWell@Home research project. The Society is seeking participants for the research that will help meet the changing needs of seniors living independently.

Dr. Mary Morris
The Good Samaritan Society is pleased to have Dr. Mary Morris as the first fellow in the Geriatrics Fellowship Program. The Geriatrics Fellowship Program, which has been organizing since 2007, is a team effort between the Society and the Sanford School of Medicine of the University of South Dakota.
The two organizations share resources and facilities to provide the best possible education for physicians to improve long-term care through education, research and service. The Society has the opportunity to become a teaching campus for training physicians and geriatricians in long-term care. The fellowship is a one-year accredited program designed to help more doctors become specialists in providing healthcare for seniors.

The Good Samaritan Society is celebrating the first anniversary of receiving an $8.1 million grant from a private charitable organization to establish the Society's LivingWell@Home program. Through LivingWell@Home, the Good Samaritan Society is helping lead the way in providing new care options for seniors.
